Light emitted by the gadgets has been singled out as one of the major causes why a lot of people would be unable to get enough sleep.

Disruptions in sleep patterns have been found to affect not only the young but the old as well. If prolonged over long periods, they could end up causing some adverse health conditions. Among them are weight gain, weakened immune systems, and the deadly high blood pressure.

In a different case, the JAMA Psychiatry journal recently published a study indicating the impact of artificial light on adolescents living in sections that experience intense amounts of artificial light. According to the study, such adolescents got less night sleep, a matter that resulted in several disorders. The mood disorder topped the list.
Teens and the lack of enough sleep
The inability to attain the right amount of sleep among teens is a matter of great concern nowadays. Research shows this to be a major cause of acute disorders among teens, including mood swings, anxiety, paranoia, and bipolar disorder.
Inadequate sleep and behavioral change
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a study focusing on the impact of inadequate sleep among teens. According to the study, sleep deprivation was the cause of major cause for teens to showcase risky behavior.
The affected teens couldn’t adhere to safety protocols. They also texted while driving, a rather dangerous trait.
From a different angle, these teens will most probably struggle with substance abuse, obesity, and in some cases, severe migraines.
The secretion of the sleep hormone called melatonin happens in the dark, and light has an undesirable effect on this.
