The billionaire initially founded Neuralink in 2016. Since then, the company has created a brain chip implanted in the skull. Tiny wires are coming from the chip and going into the brain. These wires allow the chip to boost or read brain activity.

Musk says the chip could treat neurological diseases

Musk has said the device could treat several neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Treating these diseases would be a breakthrough as they are the most common neurological illnesses, especially in older adults. They also lower the quality of life drastically.

Musk also has some far-fetched ideas regarding the chip. For instance, he believes that it could help humans develop symbiosis with artificial intelligence. He has also claimed the chip could cure autism.

How the chip might treat obesity

The scientist explained that Musk and his team could fix the issue if they found a way to target this organ or neurons associated with appetite control.
