Are you worried about the health of your bones? Worry no more because a new study has revealed that certain Norwegian cheese types could help you in thickening your bones.

Consuming Jarlsberg cheese can prevent bone weakening

According to study findings, taking 57g of Jarlsberg cheese could help prevent weakening bones without the risk of increasing cholesterol. Study experts indicate that the health benefits of the cheese are characteristic of this Norwegian cheese and not any other kind.

The Jarlsberg cheese is a mild, nutty, and semi-soft cheese type with holes derived from cow milk. According to researchers, the cheese that comes from Eastern Norway could potentially stop diabetes and prevent osteoporosis. However, these are things that require more studies.

According to past studies, cheese can enhance osteocalcin levels. Osteocalcin is the hormone that helps form strong bones and teeth. However, it is unclear whether the osteocalcin benefits are only from the Jarlsberg cheese or can be derived from other chees types.

Although cheese has protein and fat, it is only the Jarlsberg cheese that the researchers found to have high levels of vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 is available in animal products such as liver, and others can be from fermented dairy products such as cheese. Researchers arrived at the finding after comparing Jarlsberg cheese and Camembert cheese in healthy individuals for six weeks.

Evaluation of blood specimens for essential proteins, peptides, and osteocalcin, which are vital in bone renewal, showed considerate signs of renewing with vitamin K2 levels reportedly higher in participants that took Jarlsberg cheese.

Surprisingly, cheese has an impact on the blood glucose level. The study reported an increase in blood glucose level by 3% in individuals that took Jarlsberg cheese and only 25 in those that ate Camembert.

According to studies, the bacteria in Cheese produces DNHA, a substance that lessens bone thinning and enhances bone tissue formation. The study researchers said that it could be the reason for the osteocalcin increase.
